August 24 - 25, 2013

Brigham Young University School of Music

Mount Vernon Stake
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Alexandria, Virginia.

Workshop open to ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS.

The organ plays a crucial role in worship. It helps prepare the spirit before the service, it helps members worship together through hymn singing and special numbers, and it provides a suitable postlude as members leave the meeting.

The organ is a fascinating instrument! While some people may feel intimidated by it, members will find that some guidance by trained musicians will improve their confidence in their own skills.

Remember: The time to prepare for an organist calling (or any other calling for that matter) is not when you are called, but now!

Training will be provided on organ technique and hymn playing by the head of the Organ Department at Brigham Young University, Dr. Douglas Bush. Dr. Bush will be joined by BYU organ graduates Jonathan Evans, Felipe Dominguez and Josh Smith (go to TRAINERS page to see their biographies).
